                What's up with . . .
                BP catastrophe in the Gulf

On our May28, 2010, show, we grilled BP propaganda specialist Mark Proegler.
Turns out that propaganda specialists don't like meaningful questions with no wiggle room.

Thank God they cleaned this beach for this photo op....I hope I look concerned...can't wait to get to the Golf..oooops..Gulf !

I sent SWAT teams, wasn't that enough for these people? Really, these Louisiana people are like roaches. I thought we got rid of them with our federal "Katrina" flood, which we call a "natural" disaster (ROFLMAO) but they won't go away and let us turn this into the oil plantation that we need. Well this oughta do it!

Obama visited Grand Isle again for no apparent reason, other than another photo op. Here, he pretends to be one of "the people", while "the people's" marshes and way are life are destroyed due to government inaction and failure to implement the obvious super solution to this super problem: super tankers.

Under this administration BP was granted ridiculous special favors  to skip safety measures, which lead directly to the catastrophic disaster now being "managed" and manipulated in the media, while we in Louisiana are once again destroyed by  the arrogant federal government in bed with big business (classic definition of FASCISM)  .

How long must we toil as the uncompensated slaves on the US energy plantation? How long will we tolerate being the  only state from which the federal government confiscates BILLIONS of dollars in oil royalties? Here is a terrific, simple explanation of the issue: CLICK HERE. We are the state most at risk, and we are the state treated with utter disdain. Imagine if we got those stolen billions: we could hire REAL engineers, and have state of the art flood protection and coastal restoration and a battle plan and supplies to address any oil spill. We would be wealthy. How long will we beg for a pittance from those that steal from us?

Louisiana has been destroyed twice in five years by federal arrogance and incompetence, as a direct result of the unconstitutional wresting of OUR state rights to regulate OUR land and water.  Wyoming gets ONE BILLION DOLLARS per year , Utah, Colorado , New Mexico and Arizona get 50% of the royalties paid by Big Oil in exchange for the risk taken. Look at the MMS site and see for yourself. IS THIS FAIR? WHY ARE WE BEARING ALL THE RISK AND GETTING NO REWARD?  LOUISIANA GET LESS THAN 10%. IS it worth it? Or should we start electing leaders who say to hell with this, no more oil and gas until we get our royalties, 100% with back pay.
                ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
ENOUGH!     DEMAND A FREE LOUISIANA!      DEMAND ROYALTIES!         DEMAND SUPER TANKERS !

Here is the text of my speech, delivered in a shortened version due to time constraints and the rain.
                May 30, 2010
                Michele Gaudin

This is Memorial Day weekend, a special time when we honor those Americans who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country, by shedding their blood in defense of the USA.   The blood of thousands of Louisiana citizens has been spilled on the shores of foreign lands in defense of the United States of America.

Today, oil is being spilled on the shores of our state of Louisiana by an impudent and arrogant  foreign  company,  with NO DEFENSE from the United States of America.   For the second time in five years, Louisiana  has been abandoned by the same federal government that put us in danger to begin with, by usurping our power and exploiting our resources without compensation, and denying our rights to defend ourselves.

And so on this American holiday, we must regretfully ask: Is Louisiana really a State in the United States of America, or are we a colony whose wealth is to be exploited without compensation by the USA?   (How are we exploited, and what should be done?)   Louisiana provides One Third OF THE ENERGY SUPPLY OF THE US.
For this, we bear all the risk  For this, we  get no reward.    Let me illustrate: Louisiana provides more than ONE THIRD OF THE Seafood OF THE US, this seafood industry fuels our tourism industry, our seafood and tourism industries are at risk for the nation's energy supply.   The corporate headquarters of the oil companies and their "big jobs" are in Houston.
                All the risk
no reward. A colony? or a state?

EVERY other state  that bears the risk of oil exploration is paid billions of dollars in oil royalties by the oil companies.
Louisiana by far carries most of the risk of oil exploration for the NATION. There are 4000 rigs in the Gulf Of Mexico. 3500 are off the coast of Louisiana.

In Louisiana , we who bear the HIGHEST risk are paid less than 10% in royalties. By comparison, Wyoming gets over one billion dollars annually!

So who gets our BILLIONS OF DOLLARS in annual royalties paid by oil companies for the oil taken off of Louisiana's coast, INCLUDING BP?. THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT! The same federal government that refuses to send super tankers that can scoop the oil at the site. The same federal government that refuses to  send skimmers, that refuses to send manpower, that refuses to endorse our barrier island plan, that took over flood protection, and gave us floodwalls and levees that collapsed below design level, that channels the river for their ease of commerce to our detriment, that now refuses to stop the advancing enemy before it reaches our shores.

THERE IS ONE MAN THAT CAN STOP THE FLOW OF OIL ONTO OUR SHORES.
AMERICA'S SHORES. AMERICA'S WETLANDS. That man is The President of the United States.
OUR PRESIDENT SAYS HE IS "THE MAN".
HE SAYS THE BUCK STOPS WITH HIM.
                BUT THOSE ARE JUST WORDS

                WE DEMAND ACTION.

CAPPING THE WELL IS ONE THING.

BUT THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR A DROP OF OIL REACHING OUR SHORES
ALL YOU HAVE TO DO , Mr President, IS LIFT A FINGER AND ISSUE AN ORDER TO SAVE US.

NOW.   It has been 40 days.
WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR ?

We do not need cleanup, because we will be destroyed by then.

We need to stop the oil before it completely destroys our wetlands and marshes, the nursery of abundant wildlife, and our way of life.

THIS IS SIMPLY A MATTER OF HAVING THE WILL TO SAVE LOUISIANA,
WHO HAS GIVEN SO MUCH TO THIS COUNTRY AND RECEIVED SO LITTLE.
                Louisiana, w
hose wealth is exploited without compensation for the benefit of the country.
Louisiana, whose wetlands are eroded without compensation for the benefit of the country.

                DO IT, MR PRESIDENT.
Pick Up the Phone.   Order the barrier islands built now, send in the manpower to do it.
Send the skimmers and  super tankers, which can scoop the oil AT THE SITE of the gusher.
Defend our beaches, as we have defended America.
Prove that our sacrifices have not been in vain.
Prove that we in Louisiana are citizens of the United States of America.

A Baldy and the Blonde exclusive:

Why does Governor Bobby Jindal think he needs  permission from any entity to build barrier islands off our coast or to otherwise take measures to prevent the oil from destroying our coast? " We asked, but his office would not come on the air or answer the question by email, but Rep Charlie Melancon responded by email:
                Hi Michele,
Congressman Melancon believes that because of the urgency of the situation, Governor Jindal should move forward with building barrier islands to protect our coast today.  He doesn’t believe the Governor should wait for permission from anyone.
Sorry again he won’t be able to call in!  Robin Winchell Communications Director Rep Charlie Melancon

Update: AG Buddy Caldwell says Louisiana does NOT need permission to dredge!

Sadly, this LACK OF INTESTINAL FORTITUDE has cost us dearly. As of May 24, 2010, our sources say the oil is now in the marshes in Barataria Bay and in the back bays behind Grand Isle.

I sent this letter to Gov Jindal's press secretary Frank Collins, and to the state senate, state house, and city council on Friday June 18, 2010.  Guess how many answers I got? ONE! From Councilperson Susan Guidry.

You can call Gov Jindal to demand that we take care of ourselves and hire a super tanker,  and arrest interfering federal jackals like Harry Lee promised to do when the feds cut his communication lines after Katrina. This is our state and we must protect ourselves. We are not a federal colony, and the feds are out of control.
                Gov Jindal: 225 342 7015

                Dear Mr. Collins,

Please forward this request for information on why the state has not employed super tankers to suck up oil before it reaches our delicate coast to Gov Jindal. If any legislator can answer this urgent question  please do so.   I have never received an answer to the below question posed a month ago, before the oil had destroyed much of the marshes.

The oil continues to defeat us on a daily basis, despite the available solution of super tankers, which successfully vacuumed 700 million gallons of oil in the Arabian gulf,  being ignored by Gov. Jindal and Obama, the Coast Gaurd, and the federal government.   To this day, the governor has failed and refused to explain why Louisiana cannot defend itself from oil, especially in light of the workable solution of super tankers proposed early on by former Shell president Jon Hofmeister, and widely reported on in the press.  See for example thelatest article The foregoing is but one article in an excellent long series by Mark Warren of Esquire, which articles show the viability, availability and even the price of the tankers.

Why don't we hire the supertankers? Is this not a rainy day? If there is press coverage of a tanker at work doing the job will the Coast Guard really  arrest the governor?  What exactly are we afraid of?

As it stands, every day that goes by is a day when Louisiana's leaders allowed our state to be destroyed by bowing to inexcusable federal dereliction of duty.

                Just do it.

The oil never needed to touch our shores, for God's sake. And if Gov Jindal will not get the super tankers, then he needs to explain why, and be specific as to why he has ceded state jursidiction to the federal government.

As a lawyer and radio show host I can assure you that the public has had it and wants answers, and I continue to report the lack thereof, and will continue to do so.

You are free  to schedule an appearance or respond and I will accordingly report same. The show will be on tomorrow morning from 8 until 10 am. The call in number is 504 556 9696.

Washington Post  reports Obama trying to distance himself from us! All politics, Louisiana be damned. Now he is sending in Mr  Swat Team himself, Eric (Grab Elian in a Jackboot thug SWAT TEAM raid on Good Friday in an unprecedented disregard for the Constitution) Holder. Holder helped to organize the shocking raid when working for Big Sis Janet Reno, and lied about it all on national television to Tim Russert.

So Obama's first response on April 30, 2010, 10 days after the spill, was to send in SWAT teams, not super tankers, and now, 43 days later, he is sending in Mr SWAT TEAM himself, but still not a single super tanker as the oil rushes in unabated.  Awesome.

Today we confirmed again that Obama, who has refused to lift a finger as we are coated in oil, did indeed  send SWAT teams, as in the paramilitary tactical type , to the rigs. We first confirmed that with BP representative Mark Proegler on May 8, 2010, (listen to sound clip below) . We have updated our coverage on this point in response to delusional posts and arguments being made on nola.com and elsewhere, stating that Obama was referring to a Canadian
oil spill response company called SWAT.  In light of the msm's lack of curiosity on the topic, today we directly contacted the  Canadian company and asked them if they were the SWAT team being sent to all the rigs in the Gulf.  The company spokesman  laughed, and confirmed that they are not the SWAT teams Obama referred to, but that Obama meant the ordinary meaning of SWAT tactical teams, "what you in America call SWAT teams" according to a company spokesman . His company is working in Alabama.

Once we saw the video of April 30, 2010, above, where Obama's first and only action to address
the oil disaster was to send SWAT teams to the Gulf, we decided to follow up: On May 8, 2010: our show addressed these issues live .  BP representative Mark Proegler discussed use of toxic dispersant  ( Baldy nailed him) , lack of boom, and confirmed that the U.S. Department of the Interior sent SWAT teams out to rigs and platforms in the Gulf. You can listen to audio link of May 8, 2010 interview above. The Blonde's story of May 7, 2010 is here:

Since no one else in the media is asking about Obama's announcement (see video, left) that the Department of the Interior sent SWAT teams (WHAT?!) to inspect rigs in the Gulf, we sent these 7 questions  to the U.S. Department of the Interior ( DOI) :

                (1) What were the SWAT teams inspecting for? (2) How many SWAT teams were deployed?
                (3) What were the findings and conclusions of the SWAT teams?
                (4) Please advise as to what "SWAT" stands for.
                (5
) Are the SWAT teams trained in detecting causes of oil rig or platform disasters?
                (6) How many platforms and rigs have been inspected and how many remain to be inspected ?
                (7) In what year did DOI begin to have SWAT teams at its disposal?

Here is the "answer" that we received from Julie Rodriguez at DOI:

                • tiny.cc/5q38u

But hey, that's not an answer! So we followed up with the following email:
Dear Ms Rodriguez,   I am in receipt of the press release that you forwarded to me, presumably in response to my questions.    Is there more information coming by seperate email? The press release below  does not answer my  questions.   President Obama said "the Department of Interior has announced that they will be sending SWAT teams to the Gulf to inspect all platforms and rigs."   Did the Department of Interior send  "...SWAT teams to the Gulf to inspect all platforms and rigs ", as the President stated, or not?   If the President was accurate when he said that the Department of Interior "will be sending SWAT teams to the Gulf to inspect all platforms and rigs",then here are my previous questions:

                Dear Frank,
Why does the Governor believe that he needs to plead for approval of any entity, including the Corps of Engineers,
to take action to prevent the destruction of our state? What law prevents him from directing any and all necessary measures be put in place to protect the coast of the STATE of Louisiana?
This is a topic of constant discussion on the radio , and of reader comments on nola.com and elsewhere, and a response is necessary.

Please be specific. I am following up on several news articles and the following quote from the governor's website, and this is the topic of discussion on our show tomorrow  : "The Governor held a press conference in Venice following the tour where he renewed his plea to the Army Corps of Engineers to issue an emergency permit so the dredging plan can begin quickly"  http://www.gov.state.la.us/index.cfm?md=newsroom&tmp=detail&articleID=2184
