September 7, 2010Will we never learn what the animals know?
[Watch "The Animal Odd Couple" video, right] Humans, of course, differ in many respects besides age, size, shape, race, sex, etc. We also vastly differ in our opinions regarding how the other humans in society should be controlled. Some people want no control over others and expect nothing from anyone, other than that everyone respect the safety, rights, and property of everyone else. But then, other people want to greatly control others. They like a society in which there seems to be no end to the laws about what we can and cannot do, and licenses and permits we must have, and how much of our earnings we must give up for redistribution to less-productive members of society and corporations that are in good graces with the government, not to mention the government itself. Is it any wonder that those who desire to give and receive freedom from such control, and those who strive to increase such control, don't get along like some dogs and elephants do? |
